IAM - Midlands Branch
The IAM Midlands Branch committee comprises 10 regional individuals who want to further the aims of the IAM and UK Chapter within the Midlands region. The Branch organise and facilitate events to showcase asset management within the region, to further IAM individuals knowledge and understanding of asset management. The branch has developed a close relationship with University of Birmingham, many of our events are hosted at the university.

Branch Events
Recent Branch events delivered include:

• Caring for our 200-year-old canal & river network and other precious waterway assets - Canal & River Trust

The Midlands Branch is currently planning a programme of events for 2024-25 to include the following events and themes:
• BritNed - Electricity interconnector which operates between the UK and the Netherlands.
• Buried Assets, Geotechnical & Drainage
• HS2 (including return site visit)
• Visit by Andy Jinks, IAM President Elect and National Highways Regional Director.
• Transport for West Midlands & Midland Metro Extension
• National Gas Museum
• East Midlands Airport

Meet the Midlands Branch Committee
David Lyons - Branch Chair
David is the chair of the Midlands branch of the IAM UK Chapter, and is also a Principal Consultant in the Digital Asset Management practice at AtkinsRéalis. Working in asset management for over ten years, he has delivered asset management maturity projects across the transportation, utilities and defence sectors in the UK and Canada. David is particularly interested in decision-making methodologies and risk management, especially as it relates to reliability and quality management.
Stephen Morgan - Branch Secretary
Stephen is a Principal Asset Management Consultant at Amey. He has worked within Asset Management for over seven years specialising within Highways and Renewable Energy. Stephen helps organisations make informed, strategic decisions about getting value from their assets. He has completed both the IAM’s Certificate and Diploma exams and is passionate about inspiring and engaging with those new to Asset Management. Stephen is a Board Member on the IAM’s Exam Board, IAM Midlands Committee Member & Branch Secretary and Co-Chair UK NxtGen. He is passionate about the industry and growing its Young Professionals presence.
Andy Woolley - Branch Communications Lead
Andy is a Technical Director for Asset Management within AtkinsRéalis’ Engineering Services business. He has experience working with many different clients including
high-profile, national infrastructure clients in the UK, Canada, and Singapore. Andy is a Committee Member and Communications Lead for the IAM Midlands Branch.
